First Façade UPGRADE Completed
Above: 46 Courtenay Place before and after its façade facelift, which included minor repairs, cleaning, repainting, masking services and the installation of new energy-efficient LED lighting above and below the canopy to enhance safety and street vibrancy.

We’ve completed our first Te Aro Hā – Courtenay façade transformation, bringing a bright new look to 46 Courtenay Place and marking another step forward in our plans to breathe new life into the neighbourhood.
Home to Winner Winner, the building has been transformed with a sunny new façade colour, repaired and refreshed canopy, tidier services, brighter under-canopy lighting and new façade lighting for the evenings.
The project was delivered with funding support from Wellington City Council’s Heritage Resilience and Regeneration Fund, alongside investment from the building owner.
We worked with the owner to identify and plan the improvements, bringing together an expert design and delivery team to make the process as straightforward as possible. Resene provided a complimentary paint specification, with construction partner LT McGuinness leading the delivery team.
The transformation demonstrates how relatively simple, well-planned improvements can make a significant difference to the appearance and experience of Courtenay Place – and how, building by building, these improvements can add up to meaningful change across the neighbourhood.
Next up: the Victory Building
Work is due to begin in September on the revitalisation of the Victory Building at 72 Courtenay Place, home to The Ballroom, Shady Lady and Dragonfly.
More projects are expected to follow, supported by a further $150,000 from Wellington City Council’s City Growth Fund to seed-fund façade and public realm improvements, alongside private investment from participating property owners.
