Te Aro Hā – Courtenay shares ITS vision

Te Aro Hā – Courtenay was proud to share its vision for the future of the Te Aro – Courtenay precinct at Envy the Gods, a sold-out networking event hosted by Business Central and WellingtonNZ at The Gods on Courtenay Place.
The event brought together business leaders, property owners, investors and city stakeholders to celebrate the unique character of the precinct while exploring opportunities for its revitalisation. It also provided an opportunity to showcase the positive momentum already underway across Te Aro – Courtenay.
Speaking on behalf of the Te Aro Hā – Courtenay Management Group, Willis Bond's Miranda Richardson outlined the organisation's vision to transform the precinct into Aotearoa's premier creative district, a place of ideas, art, action and excitement that is welcoming and active throughout the day and into the evening.
The presentation highlighted Te Aro Hā – Courtenay's masterplanned vision for the precinct as a true 18-hour neighbourhood, with four distinct quarters that build on their existing strengths while creating a more connected and vibrant destination for Wellingtonians and visitors alike.
Attendees also heard about the practical work now underway to help restore confidence in the area, including coordinated building façade improvements, new architectural lighting, activation of vacant spaces and opportunities to introduce creative public realm interventions that bring more life, colour and energy back to the streets.
The evening also marked an opportunity to introduce the new Te Aro Hā – Courtenay identity, developed in partnership with Wellington Tenths Trust. Drawing on the meaning of aro (to focus attention) and hā (the essence of life), the name reflects the organisation's purpose: to breathe new life into Te Aro – Courtenay while recognising the rich history and abundance of the area.
Te Aro Hā – Courtenay extends its thanks to Business Central, WellingtonNZ, Food Envy and The Gods for hosting the event and creating an opportunity to celebrate the many outstanding businesses that already call the precinct home. As noted during the presentation, they are a reminder that Courtenay Place still has "great bones" and enormous potential to once again become one of Wellington's most vibrant and distinctive destinations.
